THE HOSPITAL BOARD.
Tlie monthly meeting of the Stratford Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held this morning, there being present: Messrs J. McAllister (chairman), J. Smith, A. Meredith, C. D. Sole; E. Walter and E. Hine. An apology for absence was received from Mr J. Ghrjstoffel. ' ! REPORTS. The Medical Superintendent reported:—During the month of - January foiirteen patients ■ were admitted, fifteen were discharged, and olie died. There were thirteen in the Hospital at the end of the month. Seven operations were performed under general anaesthetics.—Approved. Gardener’s Rbport.—Vegetables are dbing well and plentiful as yet. lam busy clearing paths of weeds.—Approved. . i ; The Sanitary Inspector reported for the month ended Bth February:— Infectious Diseases.—No infectious diseases were notified in the district during the month. Two premises were disinfected after scarlet fever in Whangamoraona County. General.— Stratford Borough.—One fowl yard and houses were inspected, but no nuisance existed.' Four butchers’ shops, three fish shops, and four bakehouses were inspected, and all were 'found to be in good order. Bread wfi's Weighed at each of the baker’s premises, which was full weight in each instance. During the month I was absent for two weeks on annual leave. —Approved.
Mr C. D. Sole reported for the visiting committee that everything was in good order at the hospital grounds. The chairman (Mr J. McAllister) said the grounds were looking exceedingly well. A vote of thanks was passed to tlue Stratford Municipal Band for their enjoyable performance given in the grounds. CORRESPONDENCE. Prom the Hawera Hospital and Charitable Aid Board re Patea, Stratford and Hawera combining to pay inspector’s salary and travelling expenses.—Left to the chairman with power to act. From the Superintendent National Provident Fund re particulars of employees in Board’s employ, in connection with the fund.—Received. From the Acting Inspector-General notifying appointment by Governor of James Christoffel and John Smith to be representative of’Stratford County on the Board.—Mr Smith was congratulated by the chairman on his re-elec-tion. From the Acting Inspector-General re deficiencies in Act re recovering of foes on account of deceased patients. —No action was taken.
Nurse Healy thanked the Board for her appointment as ward nurse.— Received.
