The 6th Marquis of Londonderry sat in the House as Earl Vane, his surname being Vaiie-Tempest-Stewart, His titles were: P.C., K.G., C.CV .1., C. 8.,, and was ALP. for County Down (187884). He was Viceroy of Ireland (1886-89), A.D.C. to the King 1901, Pastmaster-General (1900-2), President Board of Education (1902-5), LordLieuteuant of Belfast (1900-3) and Lord-Lieuteuant of County Down 1902. His heir is Viscount Castlereagh, ALP.
