ALLEGED SHEEP-STEALING.
THE TIMARU SENSATION.
Pish Press Association. Timaru, February o
The hearing of evidence in the charge ot sheepstealing against Robert Outline, of Mount Xessing, Alhury, was concluded to-day. .Judge Denuiston sums up in the morning. Accused and his sons, who assist, denied altering the earmarks. Accused said he believed they had been done by someone to injure him, but was advised not to name anyone. The important point for the defence was, that some of the faked earmarks did not convert the marks to accused’s. The prosecution pointed out that the new marks made the sheep nobody’s except the man’s in possession, as no one had such a mark registered. The defence called witnesses to prove illfeeling on the part of complainant towards accused, and this was replied to by similar evidence on the other side.
