COMMITTED FOR TRIAL.
DRUNKEN WANGANUI DROVERS Per JPbess Association. Wanganui, February 5. James Sain, night-watchman at the Sash and Door Factory, was to-day committed for trial* for allegedly firing a revolver at Thomas Blinkhorn, a drover. From the evidence, it ap>cared that Blinkhorn and three other drovers, who had been drinking ,but were not drunk, passed Salo about (5 p.rn. on January 28. Blinkhorn said he called Salo “an old sausage,” and asked how he was getting on, whereupon accused fired a revolver at him. Accused story was that Blinkhorn called him a German, embellished with offensive adjectives, and threatened him with physical violence. In selfdefence he fired a revolver into the ground to frighten the assailant. Salo is said to he a Russian Finn, and is an • eklerely and inoffensive man.
