RIOTS IN CONSTANTINOPLE DEMONSTRATIONS IN FAVOUR OF THE ALLIES. United Press (Association. (Received 8.2 d a.m.) Constantinople, January 31. Enver Pasha is openly blamed for the Turkish defeats, and has fallen into disgrace. An uprising is seriously threatened, and the Germans in Constantinople are alarmed and many are fleeing. Attempts to hold demonstrations in favour of the Allies were suppressed after rioting and bloodshed. A TURKISH DEFEAT. Paris, January 30. The newspaper Le Matin states that the Russians defeated the Turks at Azerbaijan and entered Tabriz. Petrograd, January 30. Official: We occupied Sofian. The I enemy retreated towards Tabriz, leaving several hundred dead on the battlefield.
