ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.
A native named Wharenata Tuera, 55 years of age, was, with his daughters and two other Maoris, engaged in netting fish at the mouth of the Taungatara river about 10 o'clock ,011 Thursday evening, when he suddenly disappeared, without uttering any cry. His companions did not notice his absence at first, but when they did a search was made, and, proving fruitless, help was summoned, the Maoris from a neighboring pah searching all night by torchlight. On Friday the search was resumed, but up to a late hour no trace of the body had been found. Wharenata was a strong swim, mer, and the theory is advanced that he was dragged under by a shark. Deceased lived with his daughter at Pihama. 1 MOTOR COLLISION IN DUSTSTORM. Tima.ru, January 29. A dust-storm on Washdyke Road to-day was responsible for a head-on collision between two cars. Mrs C. N. Orbell's daughter was driving out. a - vl met Messrs Murray and Mullroons (arch'terts). X.«i*her of them were going fist through the dust, and did not see each other in trme to avoid meeting. Both cars were badly dam. V'tod, but the occupants escaped injury, except Murray, who was cut about the fact with the broken glass of the wind-shield.
