The Court of Directors of the/Royal .Humane Society granted the following awards to-day:— In the case of Rima Sadaraka (21). for rescuing two young men from at ■ Aitutaki, Cook Islands, \ojJlfyQ ■ Oth January, 1014, the facts wor§, that itheree occurred a terrific .the worst experienced in the IpKuds for some years. A small trading steamer reached Aitutaki from Raratonga about 2 p.m., but the sea s?being so -rough, it was unable to reach the -shore. A boat went out to attempt to reach the schooner, but, being unable to do so. was returning to the shore,, when the crew were capsized 4nfco; the surf. Rima Sadaraka, one it'of the party, managed to reach the reef I [fnh&Jet.Y, but, seeing some of his comj panions in difficulties in the surf, be t t\\'jce plunged into the water to their

assistance, and at personal risk he succeeded in bringing two youths to the surface to regain their breath, and ultimately he brought them one at a time to the reef, whence they were rescued in an exhausted condition. A silver medal was awarded. In the case of David Cosgrove (62), for rescuing Herbert ■ McGarry (22) from drowning at Kaiapoi, on the 6th January, 1913, a bronze medal was awarded. In the case of Arthur Jeffs (44), for rescuing men from drowning at Manukau Heads on the 25th January, 1914, a bronze medal was awarded. In the case of Herbert Cashman (46), for rescuing John V. Strachan (-H), from drowning at Wellington on the 13th October, .19.11., a certificate was awarded.
