President’s Handicap. Victoria, 8.0 Jenkins), 1; Leapaki 8.5, 2; Ladii%7 ,Te Hou Hou was scratched. Leapuki was out in front till 100 yards from the post, when Victoria got up and won by half a length, Ladify a similar distance off, third. Jenkins E-received a great ovation on returning to scale. WELLINGTON RACES. $ Trentham, January 23. The weather is fine with a strong southerly for the concluding day of the. Wellington R.C. Summer Meeting. The attendance is very large and the course in splendid condition. Results : Wallaceville Welter.—Rerehau 1, Jem 2, .Bonny Rigg 3. Scratched: Banksia, Submersion and Killaloo. The first to break away was Bonny Rigg, followed by Rerehau,' with. Jem last. In the straight Bonny Rigg fell hack, and Jem‘challenged strongly Rerehau, but ♦ to get- up. Won by half a length, the same separating second and third. Time Imin 29 4-5
Melrose Welter Handicap.—Banksia 1, Patch 2, Crown Pearl 3. Scratched: Stepney. From a good start Crown Pearl went to the front, followed 'by, Banksia. Coming to. the straight- the field was hunched, 'but Banksia Idrew away and wop r by a length from Briar Patch, two lengths between second and third. Time, 1. min 29s®c.
Hopeful Stakes Handicap.—Taringarautu i, ; Dribble 2, Harlequin 3. Scratched: Happiness, finish, Taringaiiffitu just getting up in time, half a length'’separating second and third. Time, 48jsec. Summer Handicap.—Pavlova 1, Ogi® r 2 ? sSauci 3. Scratched: Fair Rosamund. Pavlova came at the finish, aril] beat Ogier by a length, half a length between second and third. Time, Imin 40£sec.
