TO-DAY'S FOXTON RACES. Per Press, Association. Foxton, January 22. Fine though overcast weather was experienced for the opening day races of the Foxton Racing Club, the attendance lieing well up to the standard. . Results: — Hack Hurdles, 1% miles.—F. S. Easton's Master Strowan (W. Adams) 1 } Captain Mackay 2, Papador 3. Also started: Sarbonite, Black Queen, White Plume, Lady Strowan, and Vigilant. White Plume, Lady Strowan and Black Queen fell, while the starter let the field go without Sarbonite, who got away from his rider after playing up. Time 3min 18sec.
Electric Hack, of six furlongs.— Sir J. Carroll's Want (Adams) 1, Combustion 2, Pot Luck 3. Scratched: Sir Fisher. The Diver and Pot Luck led to the turn, when Want and Combustion entered into the struggle, the former winning by a head. Time lmin 16sec. Foxton Cup, one mile and a quarter.—E. Short's br g Leapuki, aged, 7st 31b (Monk) 1: Chamiuade, 7st 131 b (Xodder) 2; Ladify, 7st (Manson), 3. Scratched: Square Deal, Orleans, Sir Antrim. Leapuki lead' all the way, but had to withstand a. strong challenge from Chaminade, who was beaten by inches only, Ladify a close third. Time, 2min 2 3-osec.
TRENTHAM RESULTS TO-DAY. Trentham, January 22. 'The weather is wet and boisterous ice the second day of the Wellington Racing Club's Summer meeting, and fclje attendance is not so large as usual. The course is in good order. Results:— >iungaroa Welter, of seven furlongs.—Prince Laddo 1, Jem 2, Bonny Ryg 3. All started. Jem came through in the straight, and was challenged by Prince Laddo. After a great set-to, the latter won by a neck, a length between second and third. Time, Imin 31 4-ssec. January Welter, one mile.—Briar Patch 1, Crown Pearl 2, Beldame 3. Scratched: Killaloo. The field was evenly despatched and headed by ]\! c. Victoria, with Crown Pearl lying second. In the straight, Crown Pearl overhauled the leader, but Briar Patch came''through fast arid won by a neck, three lengths between second- and, third. Time, Imin 42,4-sscc. Wellington Stakes, five furlongs.— Flying Start 1, Gold Foil 2, Hymettus 3. 'Scratched: ' Legal Tender and Dribble. The track was very slippery, and at the bend' Bimeter, Dinner Gong and Rangitero fell, while Sutala rah off.- Gold Foil led pn to the straight, but was passed on the post by Flying Start, who won'by a ■neck, three lengths between second and third. Wellington Racing Club Handicap, one mile and three furlongs.—Pavlova 1, Indigo 2, Kilrain 3. Scratched: Fair Rosamond. Sea Pink was left at post. Indigo challenged strongly, but was. unable to get up, and was beaten by a length, the same between second and third; Time, 2min 22sec.
