SAD BATHING FATALITY.

BROTHERS AT PLAY ON THE BEACH, Peb Pbebs Association. Timaru, January 20. The first fatality on the Caroline Ray bathing sands occurred this afternoon. Two brothers, aged eight and six years named Hartley, whose father is employed at Islington, were bathing with a number of others off the rubble mole, when they were observed to be floating with their heads under water too long. Other boys fetched thorn out, and medical aid was procured. The elder was past recovery but the younger was brought round after an hour's work. They were not beyond their depth, and it is stated that the two boys were goino; to see which could hold their head under the water longest.
