PARLOUS CONDITION OWING TO SCARCITY OF FEED. [By Electiuo Telegkaph—Copyright] United Press Association. (Received 9.5 a.m.) Sydney, January 20. Evidence which was given before the Commodities Commission shows that the poultry business is in a parlous condition. Breeders are rushing their stocks on to the market wholesale owing to their inability to obtain bran and pollard, while other foodstuffs are at prohibitive pieces. It is predicted that within the next few months eggs will be selling at 3s to 3s 6d per dozen. On behalf of the millers, evidence was given that there has been no local shortage of bran and pollard since the war, but it was admitted that though the fixed price was £7, there had been heavy sales for export at £8 to £9.
