Dr. Foote, of Thames, was last night appointed medical superintendent of the Westport District Hospital.
His Worship the Mayor (Mr W. P. Kirkwood) is motoring to Wellington tn-day. Mr N T . .1. King will act as deputy-Mayor.
The deatli of Mr John Harvis MeCaw, aged eighty, is reported from Tauranga. He had been a resident of Tauranga for fifty years. He was a Maori war veteran and town clerk since the establishment of the Borough in 1882 till four years ago.
