TARANAKI WOOL, HIDE, SKIN, AND TALLOW SALES. MR NEWTON KING’S REPORT. On Wednesday, January 13th, L hold my four-weekly sale ol above pmduce to a full attendance oMmyers. The catalogue comprised ISo hales and 141 sacks of wool. - ‘ dU sheepskins, 473 hides, 777 calfskins, VI casks and ‘3O tins tallow, and the usual sundries. Competition was very animated and extreme prices were paid for all kinds of produce offered. Wool. —Firm at late rates, with an occasional rise. Most of the offering was log-stained and showed seed. 01 one particularly' good lot of lambs, 10d per lb. was obtained. Sheepskins.—Advanced anothei p per Ih. Best lamb skins sold up to 9d per Ih—a record for this district. Hides—Unprecedented demand with Id per ih. advance, prices 'icing the bodiest vet obtained at my s. les. sort 131 hides at iOd to IOJd per Ih., whilst farmers’ hides realised as high as 9-id per Ih. Owing to shortages prices must keep on a very high love . Calfskins.— Finn at lain rates. Tallow.—Advanced 15s per ton.
