GENERAL. I MTU Pbmi Absolution. Petrograd, January 15. A communique says: We made considerable progress in tlie last twentyfour hours along the right bank of tho Vistula and occupied Serpiec. Operations were unimportant elsewhere. A Vienna communique states that the enemy's attacks along the front on the Nida failed. Quiet reigned 'elsewhere. .♦ The Germans have begun a bom'bardment of the whole of the Russian 'front with 11-inch and other guns, maxims, and rifles. Russian communiques imply that the Germans have been considerably reinforced northward of the Vistula. The Russians are now carrvitig out a counter-move in East Prussia capturing a series of villages eastwards from Rosog. There are indications that a German fortress at Boyen, guarding the Mazuriah Lakes has been burned.
