DOWN THE WANGANUI.

The Hon. Andrew Fisher, Federal Premier of New South Wales, and his party, were greatly delighted wfth their trip down the Wanganui River from Taumarunui to Wanganui. The magnificence of the scenery and the accommodation en route was quite a revelation to them. The tourist traffic on the, Wanganui this season so far has been very large. Frequently over 100 people stay at Pipiriki House. This beautiful tourist hostelry as well as the Houseboat 60 miles higher up, have both become extremely ■--popular stay-over places. In fact, numbers of people have been staying for weeks both at the Houseboat and Pipiriki. The fleet of steamers have recently been increased and improved in many respects, particularly those boats now running between the Houseboat and Pipiriki. As an instance of the volume of traffic, instead of one boat now, jnfikipg tjhe. tweon Wanganui and Pipiriki, two steamers leave together, one carrying the tourists and holiday-makers, and the other doing the wayside traffic. The name of the telephone office on board the Houseboat has hitherto been known under tHe name of “Maraekowhai.” This has now been changed to “Houseboat.” Visitors can therefore send telegrams reserving their accommodation addressed simply “Houseboat.”
