OUTRAGES OFFICIALLY DENIED. I [United Press Association.] I (Received 8.45 a.m.) Amsterdam, January 12. An official message from Berlin denies the French allegations of German outrages, and states that the commanders always maintained discipline and observed all the rules of war. GERMAN PROGRESS REPORT. (Received 10.5 a.m.) Amsterdam, January 12. A German communique states that French attacks on Crony and also to the oast of Perthes were repulsed with heavy losses. We captured a French point support in the Argonne. The French losses in the Argonne since 'the Bth inst. wore 1900 killed and | wounded, and 1600 as prisoners. French 'attacks south of St. Mihiel failed. The Russian offensive in north Poland failed. Our attacks west of the Vistula are progressing despite the weather. DESTRUCTION IN BELGIUM. SOME OF VON KLUCK’S ORDERS. (Received 0.0 a.m.) Amsterdam, January 12. General Von Kluck, interviewed at headquarters by a neutral journalist, said, in referring to the destruction wrought by, the German army while traversing Belgium; “I do not deny having personally given orders in Belgium to destroy and bum entire I towns.”
The Kaiser recently visited General Von Kluck.
