THE RUAHINE MURDER.
ROTTMAN COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. Per Press Association. Taihape, January 7. Albert Kendrick deposed that he iaw Itottman at the Ruahine factory it 6.30 a.m. on December 28th, drawing whey. He did not see accused .moking or making a cigarette. He Giikl not remember Pottman using :ie, or with his two hands shifting ans, when drawing the whey. Enlarging upon the evidence given t the inquest, Constable Essen said e discovered a drawer in the room i-cupied by McCann open. It con.lined a lady's hand bag, open. That .ntained a purse, also open. Only nee shillings were found in the touse. There was no evidence of the •robable amount of money in the iouse at the time of thetragedy. John Collis said he saw llottman at Jangaweka on December 28, and poke to him. On the same day he aw him on the Main Trunk train utween Feilding and Palmerston. An alteration was made in Detecive Rawle's evidence given at the lquest. Jlawle said that when chared with the murders llottman said: I'm guilty. I know what I've done, lo.d punish the man who brought quor into this country." Rottman •ad eighteen shillings and nhiepence hen arrested. Evidence was given on the same ines as at the inquest by several witlesses.
Accused did not give evidence, and re. erved his defence. Tie was committed for trial in the Supreme Court at iVangaiiui on February 9.
