RAILWAY WORKERS' CONFERENCE. [By Electric Telegraph—CopybightJ United Press Association. (Received 9.48 a.m.) Sydney, January 7. The railway workers' conference discussed, the executive's report favoring the Government proposal tomorrow .three million from the firm of Norton Griffiths for public works purposes. It was resolved that, while they have every confidence in the executive, they strongly disapproved of the support given to the scheme. The executive explained that it supported the scheme owing to the financial position of the State and the growing uncertainty of the money market. The Conference opposed it on, the ground that it involved ;<;the contract system, which waa violating the Labour platform, and a negation of the day labour system. The executive resigned, but holds office pending a plebiscite vote. . .
