TURKS' DESPERATE POSITION. [United Pbebs Association.] Petrograd, January 6. The Turks fought bravely, and held Sary Kamysh resolutely, and made frequent desperate bayonet sorties. Even the wounded continued firing after they had been struck down, their tenacity being due to their desire to enable the Turks in the Aradagan and Olty districts to retire. Most of the trophies captured were of German manufacture. Th© Russians hold the main roads, and have almost surround, ed the Turks, who are fleeing to Aradagan. The enemy is frantically striving to find an outlet, but the passes are deep in snow.
■ GENERAL. Petrograd, January 6. A communique confirms the capture of an army corps. Cairo, January 5. Almay Abdullah, a Soudanese, and Enyer Pasha's hcief spy, was arrested while endeavouring to seduce Efcpytian soldiers from their duty. ' He was found to be in possession of a'Turkish cypher note-book, and a letter, instructing hi m to incite the army to rebellion. He was sentenced to death, but the sentence was afterwards commuted 'to penal servitude.
