ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.

SERIOUS MOTOR ACCIDENT. Per Press Association. Carterton, January 1. A serious motor accident occurred between Featherston and Tauherenikau racecourse, a new car plying for hire with three passengers, coliodiug with a motor lorry. Michael D. Berrv, oi Wellington, and Kitty Payten, of Island Bay, Wellington, were badly injured and Theo Hill was badly shaken. The ear was smashed to pieces. It appears that the motor lorry, going to Featherston, and the car going to the races, met on a bad road and both tried to take the good part of the road. WTicn the accident occurred the motor-car was alleged to be on the wrong side. The victims were taken back to Wellington by the afternoon train.
