HUIROA.

(From a Correspondent). The event of the year, the annual concert in connection with the break-ing-up of the school, took place on Thursday evening, December 17th. This year it had been decided to place the money raised to the Belgian Relief Fund, arid young and old set to work to make the affair a record success. This was easily achieved, the proceeds from the sale of tickets and by donations in money and kind reaching the fine total of over £SO

Our representative on the Education Board, Mr R. blasters, of Stratford, presided, and to him we are indebted for assistance in a variety of ways. To the following also thanks arc due for the really first-class concert programme provided Misses Hopkins (Stratford) musical selections (pianoforte and violin); Miss Stirling, musical monologue and recitation; Mrs Martin, song; Mrs Beaveu, song; Mrs Thomas, so'ng; Mr B. Perrott, song; Mrs Jones, songs; Mr Linyard, songs; senior girls, Swedish drill steps; and school children, action songs, etc. Prizes were presented to the children during the evening, but these were bought out of other funds, as the whole of the evening’s proceeds were to be net profit to the Relief Fund.

After the concert supper was dispensed, and then various sales and competitions for the disposal of gifts, interspersed with dancing, were proceeded with. The school children, who had previously voted to give up their prizes so that nothing should be taken out of the funds raised, were keen to do all they could by selling tickets, soliciting donations, and by personal donations, to swell the total, and they have the satisfaction of knowing that a pound per head of the school roll was the result. It may be here stated that the school attendance for the year has been exceptionally good, being AS.2 per cent, of the roll number for the whole year, many of the children having from three to five.and-a-half miles to travel to and from school.

The following made full attendance for the year:—Standard Vll.—May Evans and Ivy Perrott; Standard VI., Pat Griffin (5 miles), and Ernest Parrott; Standard IV., Phyllis Stanford and Cyril Carmichael; Standard HI., Jean Griffin (3 miles), and Evelyn Perrott; Standard IT., Frank Kidd; Standard 1., Edna Perrott, Gordon Stanford and Jack Thomas; P. h, Jackie Martin and Bailey Martin; P. 2, Bella Griffin (5 miles), and Dows Stanford.

The following secured second-class certificates:—Charlotte Kidd, Elizabeth Bray, Vera Carmichael, Millie Kidd, Rupert Evans and Willie B;ay Others also deserving of mention, not having missed a nattendance since admisison during the year are: Beatrice Martin, Adie .Toll, Molly Beauchamp, Stanley Smitlieram, Percy Hancock and Ralph Carmichael.

Those who had made full attendance for the whole year received cash prizes, £'2 generously donated for the purpose by Mr C. Griffin, being divided among them. Many of them, how. ever ,are to he complimented on the geneTous spirit which prompted them to give hack their share as a donation to the Relief Fund.
