ACTIVE OPERATIONS. United Peess Association. Petrograd, ecember 31. An official communique states; “Assuming the offensive at Bolimon, the Germans, under heavy Russian fire, made an irruption in the village of Borgimo, and against the Russian trenches at Gumin. The Russians, in an impetuous counter-attack, killed all the enemy with the bayonet, except a few score, who were taken prisoners. Machine-guns inflicted enormous losses on the enemy. ' The Russians, after a stubborn struggle, captured the enemy’s trenches southward of Possade, near Inovlodz, The enemy captured an entrenched position at Bokhineter, but was subsequently routed. We are progx - essing victoriously in West Galicia. We stormed and carried several fortified works eastward of Zakittchine, capturing 44 officers, 1500 men, and eight quick-firers. The Russians, by a determined attack, dislodged the Austrians from strong positions south-west of Tinkla, putting them to panic-stricken flight.
