Mr 0. D. Braik, Director of Education and Chief Inspector of Schools in the Wanganui Education District, died this morning, one week after an operation for an internal complaint.—P.A.
A quiet wedding was celebrated at the residence of Mr Thomas Young, Douglas, when Mr William Conway, late of Port Glasgow, Scotland, was united in the bonds of holy matrimony to Miss Elizabeth Cargill Young, of .Tohnshaven, Scotland. The ceremony was performed by Rev. C. Aker. The bride was given away by her brother, Mr Thos. Young, and looked charming in a pretty cream silk dress trimmed with cream and collars to match; she also wore a pretty veil and orange blossom, and a bouquet of sweet pea and bride’s blossom. The bride’s travelling dress was a neat navy blue costeume, Leghorn hat, with ostrich feather. Miss Alexandria Duncan Young, sister of the bride, as bridesmaid, was dressed in a blue silk dress, trimmed with floral silk, and wore a white hat with ostrich feather. Mr William Young, brother of the bride, acted as best man. At the conclusion, light refreshments were partaken of, after which the happy couple left by train on their honeymoon, amid good wishes and showers of rice. It is understood (states our correspondent) their future home will he Whangainomonn.
