RELIEF FOR POOR OF GREAT BRITAIN, IRELAND AND BELGIUM. HANDSOME N.Z. CONTRIBUTION. Per Press Association., Wellington, Decern ner 24. His Excellency the Governor (Lord Liverpool), as patron of the Poor of Great Britain, Ireland and Belgium Relief Fund, reports that lie has today transmitted by cable to the High Commissioner, London, the sum of £14,200 as the third cash contribution from the run *. Five ajroi.nt comprises the second instalment from Canterbury, including Ashbi.ton and South Canterbury of £lO 000,. third , contribution from the committees of the Wellington and Marlborough provincial districts of £IOOO, and the sum of £3200, being the amount subscribed to the one-shilling Belgian Christmas Gift Fund instituted by the Wellington Sports Committee. The special instructions of each committee and the wishes of thuse giving donations for a special puiposei have all been observed, and the sum mil be apportioned as follows: £5527 for the Poor of Great Britain and Ireland, to be handed to the executive of the Prince of Wales Fund for administration; £8673 for Belgian relief, to be given to tfie proper authorities at Home for distribution. flie total cash contributions now sent forward in connection with the Fund amount to £19,200. Very valuable shipments <>f food and ~ clothing have also been sent, and contributions of cash, stock, and produce are still being made and vill he transmitted as occasion arises.
