In reply to Mr Massey'.s inquiries, the Attorney-General informed the New Zealand Government that they could have 100,000 bushels of wheat, provided the New South Wales Government in March next could depend to that quantity sent back by the following July. He explained :"If it is found we have a shortage, New Zealand will have to get 100,000 bushels which they received from us from some other part, but if our harvest is larger than expected we would not demand it back. The New Zealand Government replied accepting the terms, and asking that it be sent as quickly as possible.
