NEWTON KING’S WEEKLY REPORT.

Monday, I.4th inst., at my Uremii yards, I had a full yarding of cattle, with a representative attendance of buyers. Fat cattle came forward much in excess of advertised numbers, and buyers, appreciating the convenience of the present mode of selling the fat cattle at these yards, gave spirited bidding throughout, the 11)5 head being disposed of in good time at very satisfactory prices as follows: Fat cows £ll 5s to £7 17s tkl, fat heifers and light framed cows £7 10s to £6 3s, prime fat bullocks £ls to £l3 Is. In the dairy yards I hafl a very small entry, for which the enquiry was very slack, only a few head being sold at from £3 17s fid to £4 10s, and dairy cows at £7. I had an entry of about 750 head of store cattle, and 350 sheep, the latter met with fair bidding, but vendor’s reserves were in every, instance much above buyers’ limits. All classes of

store cattle were enquired for, Jersey 15 month heifers (second-quality) being the slackest, 15 to 18 month Shorthorn steers made £4, good 15 month steers £3 12s 6d, yearling steers £2 11s to £3 Is, 15-month good Shorthorn heifers £2 14s 6d and (215 s smaller £2, 15-month Holstein heifers £2 18s, Jersey 12 to 15-month heifers £2 3s and £2 5s 6d, Jersey Shorthorn 16-month heifers (well done) £2 17s, choice 16-month Jersey heifers £3 15s, empty 2-year heifers £3 14s 6d to £3 19s, 2-year steers (rough) £4 6s to £4=.los, and 3year steers £5 15s, cows and calves (good) £6 3s 6d to £6 18s, small £3 17s 6d to £4 18s, 3-year, bulloc'cs £7 18s, forward cows £6 2s 6d to £7 7s, good store cows £4 15s to £5 10s, others £4 to £4 10s, heavy hulls £l2 10s to £7, 15-month Shorthorn bulls £5, yearling Jersey bulls £3 to £4 ss, forward and fat ewes 17s. store pigs £1 10s. On Tuesday, 15th inst., at Rahrtu, I had a good yarding of good framed, nice conditioned cattle, for which T had a ready sale at the following prices :—Well-grown 15-month Shorthorn heifers £2 19s to £3 0s 6d, smaller to £2 ss, rough yearling steers £3 to £3 5s 6d, springing heifers £4 10s, yearling bulls £2 Bs, cows and calves £5 19s, 21-year steers good £5 15s, fair line of 2-year steers £4 19s, 2} and 3-year steers £7, heavy bulls £l2 7s 6d to £6 17s 6d, prime heavy fat cows £lO 4s to £9, lighter coivs £7 10s to £8 9s, forward cows £6 to £7 4s, store cows good up to 85 Ids, poor £3 7s to £3 18s.

At Kohuratahi on Wednesday, for my bullock fair and cattle sale, there was a good entry, -particularly bullocks, the majority of which were in forward condition and brought very favorable comemnt from the buyers present, these making good com petition for all lines, practically everything being cleared it the following prices: 4-year bullocks, 26 at £ll 7s; 3-year bullocks, 58 at £9 17s, 33 at £9 15s, 32 at £9 Ps, 49 at £8 18s, 9 at £7 15s, 48 good 2t-yoar steers at £6 16s, 17 at £6, 12 .at £5 12s, and small lots of bullocks at £lO to £8 6s 2-year empty heifers £3 IQs. bulls £4 10s to £7 ss, store cows £4 2s to' £6 7s, 15-month Shortncrn heifers £2 10s, good 15-month steers £3 It'S 6d to £3 12s, mixed 2-tooth sheep 15s 3d.
