In the last few strides, Orleans got in front, and landed the stake with a length to the good, the same distance between second and third, Miss Trumps fourth. Time, Imin 16sec. Multiplication led all the way, and Avon by half a length, Combustion finishing very fast, the third horse a length away. Time, Imin 3sec. High-Aveight Handicap one mile and 170 yards.—2 Square Deal 1, 4 Negative 2, 5 Pursefiller 3. Also ran: 7 Sir Antrim, 1 Gazette, 3 Evadne, 8 MarloAv, 6 Lady Nolan, 9 Ruapakaka. Square Deal led Avell into the straight before Negative appeared on the scene. Won by a length. Time, Imin fiosec.
