Extensive bush grass fires are raging in the Blackburn and Wakarara districts as a result of the exceptionally heavy winds. Settlers experienced an anxious time, and only the exertion of helpers from neighboring towns, prevented many houses being burnt. Mr J. Cook lost his house and furniture.
