Tho Attorney-General is suing the editor of ‘‘The Cygnet” for alleged libel contained in a paragraph published on 9th October. FEDERAL POLITICS. ■ Melbourne, December 15. The Land Tax Bill was read a third time. Mr Simpson urged the removal of the duty on fodder owing to the shortage-, and asked if the Government had arrived at an agreement for the importation of New Zealand fodder. Mr Tudor replied that ihe Federal Government offered the State’ Premiers to act as buyer of New Zealand fodder for all the States, but they did not appear anjdous to accept the suggestion, and none had applied for a remission of the fodder duties. QUEENSLAND PARLIAMENT. (Received 10 a.m.) Brisbane, December 15. In the Assembly the railway vote and other items totalling two millions were passed. THE'TOTALISATOR QUESTION IN N.S.W. ' -• ' ! Mr Carmichael told a deputation that he was prepared to pilot the Totalisator Bill • through Parliament, provided the Government ran the machine, and took the whole of the proceeds, to be applied to hospitals and like purposes.
