Professor Michelsen, Chicago, has announced a new process which will triple the present strength of steel, it will enable fortifications to resist the heaviest guns; skyscrapers could be erected on hitherto unattainable heights ; while larger suspension bridges could ho laid. DYNAMITE EXPLOSION IN SHAFT OF COAL SVSINE. (Received 12.20 p.m.) Xew York, December 9. While a box of dynamite was being lowered with a party of miners down a shaft of the Delaware Hackawana Western Coal Company, Pensylvania, it exploded, wrecking the cage and killing thirteen, leaving one survivor. The cage in flames fell to the bottom of the shaft.
