POLLING DAY.

Per Press 'Association. Palmerston, December 10. Heavy rain and fierce wind is making the conditions most unpleasant for polling .at Palmerston. There is intense interest in the contest and all four parties are confident. THE WAIMARINO SEAT. Taihape, December 10. The weather is dull for t.ie election. Polling is not expected to be so heavy as at last election. Messrs Smith and Speed have had encouraging final meetings. At Taihape last night the former received a vote of thanks and confidence, which, was unanimously" carried, while the latter was subjected to frequent interjections, and a vote of thanks only was carried, there being a few dissentients. AT WANGANUI. Wanganui, December 10. Light rain is falling. There is great interest in the election, and a big poll is anticipated. All three parties are confident.

There was not a great deal of excitement locally before lunch, but after lunch the motor cars began to whizz about fairly frequently, and a good crowd gathered at the Town Hall. The weather was against a heavy poll n everybody had to walk to the booths, but with the convenience of covered motor cars no doubt the various parties would get all their supporters to the booths. It should he remembered that the poll closes at 6 p.m.
