THE ITALIAN FLEET. Times and Sydney Sun Seeviom. London, December 8. A hundred and twenty vessels of the Italian fleet are manoeuvring in the roadstead at Tarento. TWO DESTROYERS SEIZED. United Peesb Association. (Received 8 a.m.) London, December 8. Germany has seized two destroyers in course of construction for Norway. A SURPRISE RECEPTION. (Received 8.45 a.m.) Rome, December 9. The Belgian steamer Roi Leopold had a surprise reception at Savona. All work was stopped and the population proceeded to the port waving hats and handkerchiefs. The vessels in port welcomed her with their syrens, CHASING THE BRESLAU. (Received 9.15 a.m.) London, December 9. The Breslau appeared off Sebastopol, and when our cruisers and aeroplanes attacked the Breslau disappeared.
COCOS ISLAND RAID. (Received 9.15 a.m.) Loudon, December 9. The Ayesha cabled to Padang on November 28th that she had obtained supplies. The crew before leaving Cocos Island robbed the cable staff of personal effects and valuables worth £162. The Emden landed a party at Cocos Island, and when the Sydney came in sight the captain did not wait to pick the party up. At night the party seized the 40-ton schooner Ayesha and sailed away, EM DEN’S LOSSES AND SURVIVORS. (Received, 10 a.m.) Melbourne, December 10. Captain Glossop, captain of the Sydney, in his official report, estimates that the Ernden’s losses were approximately seven officers and 108 men killed, and three officers and 53 men wounded, of whom two officers and three men died. He took survivors numbering 211 aboard the Sydney under a strict proise from the Emden’s captain that all were amenable to the ships discipline en route to Colombo. The Emden had three officers and forty men who escaped in the schooner Ayesha. They had four maxims with two belts each.
