STRATFORD CLUB’S NOMINATIONS. The entries received by the Stratford Racing Club for its New Year’s ( Meeting easily constitute a record for the Club, but the total would have been still larger if certain late entries bad arrived within the prescribed time. The Club has had bad luck in having to refuse eleven nominations from Trentham and two from Auckland which came to hand too late for acceptance, although, as above stated, the grand total is a splendid one, and the biggest entry the Club has yet received. Of course, the fact that a bakers’ dozen more horses from other provinces desired to enter is a pleasing one, and indicates appreciation of the Stratford Club’s programme and the good prizes offered. While we are sorry the nominations have missed, owners have only themselves to blame. Those who have nominated ought to paste in their hats the date for the acceptances which is December 21st. It is bad enough to miss a nomination, but worse after paying nomination fees to miss a desired ceptance.
