The Commomvealtb's new scheme of laud taxation includes the Government leaseholds, which previously escaped. It is estimated that the extra tax will yield eight to nine hundred thousand pounds. The Westralian hotelkeepers, and the tobacconists also, are giving the public the benefit of the increased duties. Other States will follow suit. All the prices fixed in the southern districts for commodities, excepting the retail prices of meat, have been rescinded, as it is considered trade has resumed its normal course.
