PERSONAL.

Mr David Borne, son of the, Rev. Borrie, of Dunedin, has been engaged to Miss Martha. Downing. The marriage will take place this month, states a Times—Sydney Sun cablegram.

In the presence of a large gathering of friends at St. Mary's Church, New Plymouth, yesterday afternoon, Miss Geraldine Kyngdon, only daughter of Mr and Mrs G, B. Kyngdon, was married to Mr Truby King, eldest son of Mr and Mrs Newton King. The Rev. A. H. Colvile officiated.

The employees of the Public Works Department ' tendered a farewell, in the form of a smoke concert, to Mr H. S. Morse at the Mount, Tauranga, on the evening of November 21st. Mr Yokes presided, and about a hundred persons were present. A number of songs and recitations \vcv& contributed. During the evening Mr Bain, on behalf of a large number of European friends, presented Mr Morse with a purse of sovereigns, and Mr Tatau Ngatai, representing the Natives, handed Mr Morse a tangiwai and handsome Maori mat. A very happy gathering dispersed at 11 p.m. with hearty cheers for Mr Morse, who has been appointed inspector on the Eltham-Opunake railway.
