MEAT AND WOOL, (By Elioteio Telegraph—Copyright, United Press Association. (Received 11.20 a.m.) London, November 30. Argentine shipments of mutton total 161,703 carcases, lamb -13,3(8, frozen beef 172,315 quarters, chilled 106,483. Wool: Arrivals, 96,500 bales ; foi warded, 28,000; available, 75,000, in eluding 4000 on Continental account. HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT. Per Press Association.
The High Commissioner reports from Loudon, dated 28th November, inter alia, as follows: — Mutton —About the beginning of this week there* was fair demand, but trade has fallen off very much, and the price declined as the result of heavy arrivals of Dutch. Canterbury s:id, North Island si|d, best quality ewes good demand s|d.
Lamb. —There has been no alteration in the market since last week, but the market is dull on account of heavy arrivals of Dutch and Scotch, which are selling at a low price. Canterbury two’s 6|d, other than Canterbury 6.)d. 1 Beef.-—There is little demand at marked prices based upon Government contracts. New Zealand hinds 6Jd, fores chilled hinds 6Jd*, fores s|d. Butter.—The market is very firm. Danish is quiet at 143 s to 146 s per cwt. New Zealand prices are firm, and there is good demand at 130 s to 1325, unsalted 130 s to 1345, .Australian is in small supply, but good demand at 126 s to 128 s. Irish creamery supplies are decreasing, prices 123 sto 130 s. Argentine is firm at 122 sto 1265. Siberian firm and in good demand at 120 s to 1225.
Cheese. The market is firm. Canadian white and colored 77s to 78s per cwt, New Zealand white and colored 75s to 765. The shipment of cheese ek Corinthic arrived in good condition. Hemp.—The market is speculative, and there is better demand on spot. New' Zealand good fair grade £23 10s perton, fair grade £2l 10s, fair current Manila £24. Jamiary-March shipments, good fair grade £24, fair grade £22, fair current, Manila £24 10s. The output from Manila for the week was 12,000 hales. Cooksfoot-seed.—The market is firm with general and active demand for Danish at 60s per cwt. Wool.—The market for merinos is easier, but is very active for crossbreds.
