DE WET GETS ANGRY.
Johannesburg, November 28. During the fighting at Mushroom Valley, a uniformed man rode up to Commander Brand and pointed to Botha’s commando, whom he declared were rebels. One of Brand’s men recognised the stranger as Vauniekirk, a rebel leader, whereupon the Loyalists shot him dead. When at Winberg, De Wet, in a temper, knocked shop assistants about becausfe they had no petrol. A brother rebel prevented him from burning the store. De Wet desperately assaulted the Mayor, accusing him of killing his son Daniel.
MORE REBELS TAKEN. (Received 9.0 a.m.) Pretoria, November 29. Commandants Ross and Greyling, at Frankfort, report capturing, after encounters, several officers and thirtyone other rebels. FOM-ENTINC TROUBLE. GERMANS ARRESTED. (Received 9.25 a.m.) Amsterdam, November 29. A message from Casablanca, in Morocco, states that fourteen Germans, were arrested at Sehdu Oran for espionage and inciting the population. Two German post office officials at Casablanca were shot.
