The Stratford Evening Post WITH WHICH IS INCORPORATED THE EGMONT SETTLER. MONDAY, NOVEMBER 30, 1914. STRATFORD SHOW.

Notwithstanding the fact that to an I extent the world’s conflict now rag-| ing is having a restraining effect on enterprise and business effort, it is safe to say that the Stratford A. and P. Association’s standing was never higher, and the outlook foi the. Annual Show, which takes place on Wednesday and Thursday, of this week, is the brightest that has pre seated itself in any previous ,yoar oj the Society’s existence. The substantial increase in entries in the principal stock classes is. in the first place, an indication that the educational value of the Show has not receded, and is a splendid exhibition ol what the countryside can do. It is further plain proof that the interest in the fixture is by no means slackening. With the recent heavy rains there is,also reasonable probability oj fair weather prevailing, for in all big gatherings which are held in the openair, bad or fine weather have much to do with the success of the function. Never since the inception of the Society have the officials worked hardei than on this present occasion. Pre vious high standards set by those uln have carried on the Association s wml made it imperative that the executive of the Society would have to be energetic to keep up the pace set by its predecessors, and, recognising this, the President (Mr Edward Jackson) and those associated with him have done fine work. It is more than ever certain that the Stratford A. and P. Association is becoming a permannent institution which must have r great deal to do with the progress and well-being of the dairying and agricultural industries in the wide district which Stratford serves. During the past year still further improvement? have been undoubtedly effected in the methods of farming in our district i dairy herds have been further improved by the addition of more high, class stock, and the exhibition thifyear in cattle should he a particularly fine one. Settlers from every pari of the district will he present in force, and there should be a good time for everybody.
