THE MODERATE LEAGUE. Per Press 'Association. Wellington, November 27. • The Dominion conference, of tinNew Zealand Moderate League was opened to-day. Mr A. S. Meuteath presided, and there were over twenty delegates present from all parts of New Zealand. The Dominion secretary, Mr R. A. Armstrong, was also in attendance, and submitted a report showing that the league was established on a firm footing in all important centres throughout the .Dominion, and that the several branches report very keen interest on the part of the Moderate public, and a daily increasing membership. After a general discussion of the various remits submitted by the branches, the conference adopted a number of resolutions indicating the directions in which the League desired amendment of the licensing laws.
