AUCKLAND WOOL SALES. Per Press Association. Auckland, November 26. The first Auckland wool sale took place to-day, when 12,220 bales were disposed of, as compared with 669 b last year. Despite the absence of foreign buyers, competition was ie " markably keen. Prices received m comparison with those of last year are as follows, last year’s prices being given first; Fine half-bred, 10d to 12-ld, lid to iSi d; fine crossbred, 9 d to Hid, lOd to 12d; medium crossbred Bfd to 9*d, 9d to 10|d; coarse crossbred, Lincoln, 8d to B*d, 8d to 10|d; inferior log stained, iidto / 3d, 7|d to Bid; first pieces, 6id to 7d, second pieces and .bellies, 5d to 6d, sid to' 6id; crutchings, 6d to 63d, 7d to 8-id; locks, 4d to 4id, 4d to od.
N.Z.L. AND M.A. CO'S. WEEKLY REPORT. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Stratford branch, report as follows: — We held our usual monthly wool, sheepskin, hide, calfskin and tallow sale on Tuesday, 24th inst. The catalogue consisted of 89 packages wool, 1083 sheepskins, hides, etc. The attendance was good and bidding was
very brisk for all lines, which were cleared at advanced rates on last sale’s prices, and were well up to values realised at other selling centres. Wool.—Some of the lines sold as follows :—Wool in 3 fadges T L realised Old to 93d, 3 bales coarse stained wool D M, containing fern seed made Old, 2 bales heavy and coarse 0 M € Old. 10 1 bales J L, bush stained and unskirted,
Old, 3 bales W 3, heavy and dingy and seedy Old, _ 7 bales D G, crossbred, weak grown, Old, crutchings M, from 7d to 71-d, wool in sacks up to Old, dead and cotted 7fd to 9d, pieces, small and hairy 5d to 6d, black, poor quality wool, up to Bd. Sheepskins, all farmers’ lines, sold exceptionally well. Full woolled, good pelts, from 8s 4d to 10s, medium wool good pelts 6s 2d to 7s Id, fair quality 5s 9d to Gs, medium wool, perished pelts, 4s 2d to os 4d, hogegts skins, fair pelts. 3s 6d to 3s 9d, f)lack woolled up to Is sd, shorn pelts, small spread Is, salted medium skins up to 7s 3d. Hides and calfskins, all farmers’ lines : —Cowhides, heavy and fleshy £1 10s 10d, medium 19s 3d to 24s 6d, light 14s lOd to 17s 9d, cut 17s 2d, slipy 12s, dry 6s 3d; ox hide, heavy, cut, 34s sd, fleshy 17s; yearlings, light 7s 3d to 10s; calfskins, 71bs made 5s 6d, sHbs 5s Id, 4Jlbs 4s sd, 41bs 3s 10d, 3Hbs 2s Bd, dry 3s, slipy Is 8d; tallow up to 20s per cwt; horsehair Is 6d per lb. Our next sale will be held on loth December.
T. i. LAMASON’S REPORT. Last Saturday we held our usual weekly sale with very large attendance of the public. There was an exceptionally large entry of poultry. We quote as follows:—Hens Is lOd to 3s. roosters Is 6d to 3s 6d. ducks 2s 3d to 3s, ducklings Is to Is 9d. cockerels 6d to 9d, geese ,3s (5d to Js, turkey lien 5s to Os, gobbler 10s, gooseberries 2d to 2}d per lb, rhubarb 4d per bundle, cabbage 3s per do/., potatoes 9s 6d per sack, wheat ss,od to Gs Od per bushel, furniture and sundries at usual auction rates.
