Late entries for the Stratford Show will close on Friday evening at 6.
On the motion of Or. Smith the County Council decided yesterday to grant all employees a full holiday on the people's day of the Show.
Mr J. Spottiswood, who has conducted a series or evangelical addresses in the Gospel Halt this week, will hold his final meeting to-night.
Stratford -people hardly need a reminder that the New Plymouth Operatic Society's clever company will stage that delightfully popular musical destion, "San Toy," in the Town Hall this evening. »
At the Foresters' Hall, Stratford, on Sunday next, November 29th, Miss L. T. Walton, N.A.S., is to deliver, a lecture entitled: "I was a stranger and ye took me in." Clairvoyant descriptions will be given after the lecture.
Mr William Corkill, of Mountain Road, has a rather remarkable freak growth of laburnum oh his property. For the past twelve years it has borne fine hunches of pink bloom, and this year is covered not only with pink Mowers, but also festoons of yellow and purple—three distinct varieties.
In addition to the engagements previously announced, .Mr Hine will speak at Puniwhakau and Tututawa on the 30th, Tokoi Road and Stanley Road on the Ist December, Huiroa on the 2nd, Bird Road on the 3rd, Lincoln Road and Waitui on the 4th, and Tuna on Saturday, sth.
The presentation to be made by the Oddfellows' Lodge to Bro. and Sister Gorton on the occasion of their recent marriage has been postponed from Monday evening, on account of the patriotic concert in the Town Hall. The presentation will take place on the next Lodge night, particulars of which will be announced later.
Despite the wet weather there was a good attendance last night at the Midhirst endue party and dance. Messrs F. Carter and T. Anderson acted as M.c.'s, and the piano accompanists were the Misses Anderson and Huso. Altogether it was an enjoyable gathering, and it is hoped shortly to announce that a good sum will be banded over to the Belgian Distress Fund.
Last night the Senior Cadets and , Territorials who are to contribute I marching and bayonet and sword exercises at the Rifle Club concert on Monday next held a successful practice at the Fire Station. Lieutenant Grey has devoted a good deal of time and trouble in this training, and the public can confidently look forward to something especially good in thie department. The musical part of the programme to which the Municipal Band will contribute, has also received attention, and should prove highly enjoyable. The proceeds are to be devoted to the British and Belgian Relief Fund. There will be no charge for admission, but a collection will be taken up. The only restriction as to admission is that children must be accompanied by an adult.

There will be stalls for fancy goods, drapery and sweets, and side-shows and guessing competitions will be in evidence. Afternoon tea and supper will be procurable. On Saturday night, goods , still in hand will be sold by auction.
