DROUCHT IN AUCKLAND. Per Press Association. Auckland, November 24. Since July less than four inches of (rain have fallen in Auckland, as I compared with 14 inches, which is the average fall for August, September, October and November. The result ■is that the dairy industry, which three months ago .appeared to be erai barking oh the most prosperous season on record, is rtbw gradually slackening, and the position daily growing more serious, as there is ho growth Heft in the pastures, and the dairy [herds are gradually becoming less ; profitable. Many growers state that [their potato crops have been ruined by the prevailing drvness. and the jWaitemata strawberry-grower's ,state [that the drought has done such damage already in their gardens that they : will have for market this year less [than half the 600,000 boxes produced ft;-; . r last year.
