VICTORIAN POLITICS. United Press Association. (Received 9,30 a.m.) Melbourne, November 24. The State elections will be held on Thursday. A vigorous campaign is coining to an end. The chief Labor plans are the abolition of the Legislative Council, the initiative referendum, and opposition to the referendum on Biblo-reading in State Schols. The Liberals favor a reduction in the Council’s franchise, hut leave the other two questions open. SYDNEY WOOL SALES. (Received, 9.30 a.m.) Sydney, November 24. At the wool sales for the better grades of crossbreds there was keen competition and a slight advance. Other sorts were on a par with last week. ,
PROPOSED NEW LABOR PARTY. *» N (Received 8.30 a.m.) * Sydney, November 24. The Colliery Employees’ Federation is calling a conference to consider the formation of a new # Labor Party, which it is stated is the outcome of the Government’s action in regard to the Arbitration Act, the non-introduc-tion of an Eight Hours Bill, failure to abolish the Upper House, and night work in mines.
