[United Press Association.] (Received 1.45 p.m.) * London, November 23. Mr Churchill announced that aeroplanes under Commander Briggs, with Flight Commander Babington and Lieut. Sippc as pilots, tri 1 flew from France to : Friedrichshqfen. All three successfully Hew down .to close range under heavy fir© from guns, rifles and mitraileuses. They launched bombs which seriously damaged the Zeppelin factory. Briggs is in hospital, wounded and a prisoner. The others returned safetly,, though their maclfinfe^'were / damaged! W~iguhfire. The flight extended for 250 miles, penetrating 120 miles into Germany across mountainous country in difficult weather It was a fine feat of aviation. SHOULD FOOTBALL CONTINUE? (Received 1.45 p.m.) London, November 23. Football continues, and the question was -raised in the House of Commons whether the railways ought not to curtail the cheap ticket facilities. IN THE PERSIAN GULF AND EAST AFRICA.' [United Press Association.] (Received 1.5' p.m.) London, November 52. The Press Bureau states that the Turkish forces in the Persian Gulf abandoned Resistance and fled, leaving eight guns and many prisoners. In East Africa a strong force of the enemy conyxelled us to retreat •to cover. Our losses were so heavy and the enemy’s position so strong that it is considered useless to renew the attack. CHANNEL ISLAND OCCUPIED. (Received 1.5 p.m.) « London, November 23. Mr McKenna announced that British troops had occupied the Island of Hcrm, near Guernsey, leased in 1889 to a German company. The house and grounds were subsequently re-let to jPrince Blucher. WHEAT VERY QUIET. (Received ,2.15 p.m.) London', November 23. Wheat is very quiet with prices unchanged.
