MONEY FROM THE WAR LOAN* United Press Association. (Received 9.30 a.m.) Melbourne, November 24. With reference to yesterday’s London cable, Mr Fisher, Prime Minister, points out that Australia is obtaining eighteen millions from the British war loan to meet the naval and military expenditure, and also eighteen million, which the Commonwealth had arranged to obtain for the States’ developmental purposes.
KILLED IN ACTION.
(Received 9.30 a.m.) Sydney, November 24. Captain Docker, nenhew of Judge Dooker, was killed in action.
MEN IDLE AT THE DOCKYARD, (Received 9.30 a.m.) Sydney, November 24. One hundred and fifty men are idled at the dockyard, having 4)8611 interfered with by the docking of warships and the fitting of transports. GENERAL. Sydney, November 23. The Messina arrived from Nauru, conveying twenty-five German prisoners, who participated in the affair cabled on September Bth. The captain reports that he witnessed the hoisting of the British flags at Nauru, and the troops now have the island under control, and everything is worikng smoothly. •
Industrial trouble has arisen in the Government dockyards at Cockatoo and Garden Islands. The carpenters, joiners, plumbers, and shipwrights ceased work on Friday, and have'not returned since. The dispute is the outcome of overtime pay in connection with the war.
