Mr J. A. Murdoch, the selected “Reform” candidate for the Westland seat, who retired on Saturday, has resigned the mayoralty of Kumara, states the Press Association.
It is stated that Mr Edmund Clifton, Director of the Field Division of the Department of Agriculture, will retire on superannuation on the completion of his present appointment in charge of the New Zealand exhibit at the Panama Exposition.
Mr J. B. Campbell, statiomnaster, who is under transfer to Palmerston South, was met last night at the residence of the present secretary of the Scottish Society, Mr Petrie, by the committee of'tbo Society, and presented with a travelling rug. Mr G. Sangster, president of the Society, in making the presentation, referred to the excellent work Mr Campbell had done during the comparatively short time he had acted as secretary. A pleasant social evening followed the presentation.
