A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.

GENERAL COMMITTEE. The general committee of the Stratford A. and P. Association met on Saturday, there being present; Messrs E. Jackson (president, in the chair), 1). J. Malone, E. Kelleher, H. M. Good, E. Broeklebank, W. Skedgwpß, W. d’. Harnblyn, B. Orr, T. R. Orr, G. Jackson, J. Shotter, A. C. Walsh, W. Vickers, T. Walker, R. Dingle, J. Linn, W. M. Bayly and W. P. Kirkwood. EXECUTIVE’S REPORT. The following report from the Exc entire Committee was adopted:— Your Executive Committee have pleasure in reporting as follows: Grounds.—The grounds are in splendid order. Two paddocks have been shut up for h':y, which will' provie abundance of feed ol the very best for stock. The stock paddocks at the east of the bull boxes have been closed for one month,and by Show date sufficient feed will be provided for stock. Accommodation on the Grounds for both nights of the Show.—The Executive decided to subdivide two of the present paddocks, making in all about 12 subdivisions.

Improvements—Your Executive have thought fit to roof in a part of the present pig-pens, which will no doubt induce bettor entries in this section than in the past. . The present cowbails have been lengthened and two additional bails have been added. An iron porch has been erected at tl]e door of the luncheon room, and it has been decided to erect a brick chimney inside the caterer’s enclosure. The President and Messrs Dingle and Shotter had a conference at New Plymouth with the Taranaki Association with a view of assisting each other in securing entries. It has been agreed between the two Associations that every assistance will be given in that direction. It was decided at the conference to canvas the New Plymouth district on Monday, the 16th, Stratford to supply three ears and New Plymouth one. The thanks of the Association are diie to Mi Gonnett, of the New Plymouth Association, who provided his car, and to Messrs Dingle and E. Jackson, who each supplied one car, and to Messrs Street Bros., of Bell Block, and Mr Colson, of Fitzroy, and to Messrs J. B. Richards, 0. Jackson and H. Wilson, of Stratford, who assisted to canvas for entries, and they covered a considerable amount of country, and secured a large number] of entries and many promises. ; •<

Local Canvassing. It was decided to organise a committee to canvas lo cally for entries. This movement was carried out on Friday, the 6th November, six cars having been provided free by members of the Association. The district being divided into sections, a large area was canvassed with very gratifying results, and it has been decided to make a further effort on Monday. Mr C. Jackson and the secretary attended the Palmerston Show. The President (Mr E. Jackson), Mr T. Kirkwood/ and the Secretary visited the Wanganui Show, with a view to securing entries, and the response from exhibitors was very liberal. It has also been decided to attend the Hawerr. Show on both days, and any assistance from members present at the Show, as canvassers, will be appreciated by the* Executive., Your Executive trust that eyqry effort will be made by the farmers and others in the district tc forward as many entries as possible and loyally support their own Association.

Donations.—The sub-committee set up to canvass the borough for special prizes, have pleasure in reporting that as, usual the to^ r n has again loyally supported their Association in this direction, in spite of the many other calls made upon them. All arrangements with the forthcoming show are well in hand, and the Executive feel confident that with the hearty sup port promised' by exhibitors, the Stratford Show of'l9-1 4 will be a record one.

THE RAILWAY PROBLEM. It was decided to ask the Railway Department to advise as to the probable cost of a railway platform near the Showground and the terms on which they would undertake its erection.
