GERMAN FIRES IN SYDNEY. [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] United Press Association. Melbourne, November 22. A few hours after AVarburton’s, fire another outbreak occurred in the Schwartz clothing factory, in Highson Lane. Two buildings were gutted, and three others damaged. Three firemeri were injured. Each building contained a German tenant, and large quantities of German goods, which, since the war, have been practically unsaleable. The damages are estimated at £BOOO. Two'more fires have occurred,Stone’s boot factory t and Price and Griffiths (merchants) being destroyed The total damage of these and the Schwartz’s fires is estimated at over £BO,000.
THE AFTERNOON SHIFT.

The Labour Federation officially, in spite of heavy fines, will continue to fight against the afternoon shift, and is prepared to stay out for twelve months rather than abandon the principle. The annual report of the Sugar Bureau showed that a large number of Austrians, Russians, Spaniaids, Greeks, and Italians, particularly the last named, are purchasing sugar, farms.
