James Allen does-, not con-j sider that it vail be. necessary to despatch a second expeditionary force, as arrangements will be made for sending heavy reinforcements in order to maintain the Expeditionary Force in Europe at its full strength throughout their, service. INTERNATIONAL PEACE. Dunedin, November 21. At a meeting of the Presbyterian General Assembly this afternoon, the committee set up to consider the question of international peace reported having communicated : with, the churches in England, Scotland, Ireland, the United States, Canada, Australia, and France, also the German Lutheran Churches, through Dr. Dryander, Court Chaplain to the German Etiiperor, and chief preacher at Berlin Cathedral, who passed on the communication to Dr. Voigts, president of 'the Evangelical Supreme Church Council In Berlin, and the highest authority in church matters in Prussia. In a reply, received eight days after war was declared by 'England, Dr. Dryander stated that all Christians were in favor of universal peace, hut there was room for differences of opinion as to whether this could'*he done by a peace alliance, as only a very small section of the German public or church would he disposed to join such an association. The writer referred to - the conviction that Germany could preserve the peace of the world as an actual fact, only in virtue of her military power,' and was strong j enough to prevent other nations going to war. The committee recommended that the Sunday before Christmas he observed ns “Peace S; V.day,” The report was adopted.
