TROUBLE IN PAPUA.
A MAGISTRATE OBSTRUCTED. HOSTILE NATIVES BEATEN. United Press Association. ' (Received 9.-15 a.ip.) , Melbourne, November 20. The Administrator of PapUa reports a serious conflict between a patrol party and natives, resulting in s&ven natives being killed. While en route to investigate murders in the Cokila district, Mr Chinnery, Assistant Resident Magistrate, with a force of native police, collided with a hostile tribe in the Rigo district. The natives opposed Mr Chinnery’s entrance, stockaded the village, and threw spears. The police fired two volleys and drove out the natives. Mr Chinnery is informed that six out of the , seven killed participated in the Cokila' massacres.
